The 72 ft long boat is a former commercial vessel built in 1965 by Bishop Marine Services in Aransas Pass, Texas. The owners say she was originally a shrimp boat in the Gulf of Mexico, then made her way to the Pacific Northwest, where she stalked the various fisheries from the Oregon coast to the Bering Sea. The Limit Stalker was then retired from the commercial fishing fleets.
The vessel is a sole asset of an LLC and had major shipyard refits in 2009 of over $800,000.
The refitting process first step was to strip off and dispose of all of the commercial gear. They then brought Limit Stalker to Platypus Marine in October 2007. She was put into extensive documented refit to update to an expedition yacht.
The fish holds were gutted and converted to three staterooms and two heads with full granite showers. The salon on the main deck was extended and 10 vintage bronze port lights which came off of an old ferry were installed.
Twin captains quarters on bridge, STIDD Helm seat and all new Furuno equipment.
Helm head ready to be installed if wanted in future.
A new restaurant-quality galley was also built, complete with a commercial grade Wolf stove and stainless steel work surfaces. The interior of the wheelhouse was demolished. 10 large bronze port lights were installed that allow for virtually a 360 degree field of vision.
The interior decking is Brazilian cherry and the bulkheads are covered with a complementary veneer that gives the space a very rich look. There is also a freestanding wood-stove that heats the entire salon area, creating a cozy ambiance.
Limit Stalker is powered by a 450 Cummins Diesel- a popular and reliable engine for commercial fishing boats-and also has a Cummins Diesel that powers all the hydraulics that can be used to power the boat. The entire boat has redundant systems. The engine room is a complete full walk around space and easily accessible.
