The yacht, a Robert Perry designed 1981 clipper-bowed fiberglass CT-54, was converted (circa 2007-2009) from a standard ketch rig to a Brigantine Staysail Schooner (“Pirate Ship”) utilizing the same modern square rig concept employed on KITTY HAWK, yet with “swept” spreaders on both fore and aft masts, with all spars angled and staggered for classic effect. The various aluminum masts, booms, and bowsprit were all uniquely painted copper in color to emphasize a traditional varnished appearance, yet without requiring constant upkeep.She boasts design accolades in appreciation of classic style, which she emulates, without fans even realizing the exceptional utility value of the modern square rig that she sports.
