Built as hull number 25 at the Landamores Yard in Norfolk England "Black Pearl" is well founded and ready for "all ocean" cruising. This Oyster 46 is Ketch rigged and designed to be seakindly and solid in heavy air conditions and very nimble in light to moderate winds. She is fitted with the optional Scheel Keel (external lead) and has a fully skeg supported rudder. She is currently for sale by the 3rd owner and located in the fresh water sea known as Lake Michigan. Delivered originally in England, "Black Pearl" has found her way across the Atlantic, through the Carribean, to Florida where she was purchased by the 2n owner. Brought north, with a brief stop in Kentucky, she is currently located in Charlevoix, Michigan. The current owners have been meticulous in "Black Pearls" care, upgrades and maintenance. Her layout above deck and below make this a wonderful yacht for the cruising couple that would like to invite family and friends aboard. Accommodations and Layout.

Forward Cabins and Head:
From the bow moving aft you will find a large storage locker with sail stowage, bow thruster access and the holding tank for the forward head. This area is followed aft by the guest head, that contains a marine toilet with 28 gal holding tank supplied by fresh water, vanity with sink, and integral shower with sump pump. The guest stateroom layout is both unique and very functional. Accessed from the main salon thru double doors the starboard and port guest staterooms can be partitioned off with a sliding tri-fold teak door amidships. The starboard cabin lower berth can convert to a double. With the trifold door open this makes the forward cabin very funtional for a couple. By closing the tri-fold door each cabin will sleep two one on the bottom bunk and one on a cleverly designed pull out pipe and canvas berth. Therefore, the forward cabin thus can accomadate 2-4 people with each cabin having private access to both the main salon and forward head. Of course storage and hanging lockers are provided.

Main Raised Deck Salon:

The raised deck main salon follows aft and has an opening forward hatchwindow on centerline. The side windows are generous and allow ample light. To port there is an inside steering station with complete engine controls, navigation station with full size chart table and electronics, adjustable single helm seat, writing/office desk area with adjustable seat, drawers for storage, and a hanging locker. To starboard in the main salon is the U-shaped dinette with folding table large enough to dine 6 in comfort. There is storage under the table and in the cabinetry located outboard of the dinette. The main salon was reupholstered in 2007.

Aft Stateroom:
The owners cabin features an offset queen size berth. The berth allows access from port or starboard side. The storage and hanging locker space is ample for liveaboard comfort. Forward and to port of the owner's cabin is a washroom with head and vanity with sink, forward through yet another door is a separate stall shower area with the clothes washer/dryer unit outboard. The owners' aft head also has a holding tank, fresh water flush toilet and shower sump pump.

The entire interior is finished in solid teak, teak veneers, white overheads, and teak and holly cabin soles. The fabrics and draperies have been upgraded by current owner and remain in "as new" condition.

Galley

The galley is located to starboard, aft of the dinette, and at the base of the companionway. Outboard you have the deep double stainless sink, counter space, microwave oven, and a Force 10 3 burner stove and oven, lots of dry storage outboard. The inboard side of the galley has counter top space and the top access freezer box and refrigerator. The design of the galley lends itself to be useful and efficient at sea or shoreside.

Electrical System

24 volt D.C. ships house system. 24 volt DC.engine and 12 volt generator starting system. 110 volt AC ships generator. 110 volt A.C shore power system. The 24 volt ships house system draws on 2 banks of 4 batteries for a total of 8 new in June 2013 6 volt AGM batteries. These house batteries are charged by a Prosine 3.0 Charger Inverter (2003). This charger can be run by either shore power or the ships generator. 2-12(in series) volt D.C. Engine and 1-12 volt Generator batteries are charged by the main engine alternator and generator alternator. The 7.5KW Westerbeke Generator is fresh water cooled and in a sound box. The Generator has it's own racor fuel filter with audible "water in fuel" alarm. Due to the sound box and extra heavy lead insulation the generator is exceptionally quiet under load.

Sails and Rigging

Sail handling is made easy with the high aspect ketch rig design. Kemp Aluminum spars are fitted with steps for going aloft. Each mast is rigged independently. The double spreader main mast is keel stepped and the single spreader mizzen is deck stepped with a substantial compression post. The Mizzen and Mainsail are fully battened and have Fredricksen sail track and cars for ease of hoisting and reefing. The Headsail is managed with a Profurl roller reefing system. The main boom has a Harken traveller system and a boom vang. The Mizzen has twin adjustable back stays and a boom vang as well. There is a main mast mounted Spinnaker pole. All the cars, leads and winch handles are available to make your sail handling a snap.

Engine and Mechnical Details

Engine is a 85hp Perkins marine diesel, 4 cylinder, naturally aspirated, fresh water cooled. Primary engine guages are at inside helm with tachometer, hour meter, water temperature, oil pressure, and volt meter. There are audible and visual alarms for low oil pressure and high engine temperature at both steering stations. There is a racor primary fuel filter with audible water alarm, and a secondary fuel filter.
