Built by Merrifield Roberts in 2003, OCEAN STATE has done service in New York, New England and the Caribbean. With the nifty swim platform, OCEAN STATE can serve as a dive boat as well.

This design is very economical to operate. At 1800 rpm and a light load, fuel burn is reported at 36 gallons per hour. At 30 knots (2050 rpm) the fuel burn is 55/56-gph light and 85 gph heavy.

Both MTUs were rebuilt at the end of service of the 2006 season. Constant service and preventative maintenance have been the trend with this vessel. Weekly fuel filters and constant attention supplement annual maintenance which include fuel pumps, circulating pumps, and raw water pumps.

Detailed Walkthrough

The upper deck has seating for 60 passengers. There is a pilothouse located forward between the upper and lower deck. A huge storage area forward of the helm houses Life jackets, tools, the ship's computers and other equipment for the crew. On the lower deck, there is seating for another 84 passengers. A service galley is aft on starboard and on port is the head. Boarding gates are forward over the bow, and amidships. There is a large "swim platform" outside the main deck aft with port and starboard steps to the water.
